Effort Tracker
by DevRev

The Effort Tracker snap-in provides automated effort logging within DevRev. With a single command (/log_effort), team members can quickly log the time they’ve spent on tasks directly within DevRev. The snap-in guides users through entering required details like date, hours, and days, ensuring no incomplete or invalid entries are submitted. Each effort entry is stored in a structured, queryable format and appears instantly in the timeline of the related work item. Effort logged in sub-issues is automatically rolled up to parent issues, keeping progress tracking accurate at every level.

Features

  • **Simple Command Integration:**
Trigger effort logging using the /log_effort command directly from the work item's discussion panel.

  • **Comprehensive Data Validation:**
Ensures all user input (e.g., days, hours) is validated before being logged.

  • **Structured Data Storage:**
Each log submission creates a custom object linked to the relevant work item, enabling organized and queryable effort history.

  • **Real-Time Timeline Feedback:**
Logged effort entries immediately appear in the item’s timeline, giving teams clear visibility into work progress.

  • **Automatic Roll-up for Parent Issues:**
When child issues are updated, their effort values are automatically reflected in the parent issue, maintaining accurate totals.
